Analogue Projections have been my main creative focus for the last 14 years, mainly using Optikinetics projectors. Growing up we never had computers in the house so suddenly going into a job at a computer shop at the age of 19 was a big learning curve, it was at this point I discovered the love for Photoshop and Illustrator.  My good friend and lighting mentor Brendan O’melia of Metempsychosis Lighting planted the idea that making your own wheels and effects is ultimately the way to go. It was from this point I was to spend the next 10 years trying to make wheels that were interesting, fresh and somewhat psychedelic. I am unsure If I have achieved this, but I enjoy the process and most of my days are filled thinking about these 6” discs, which when I speak to people not many people seem to know what I’m talking about. I guess the reason I have stuck to the analogue style, is due to the organic feeling a moving slide projection gives in comparison to a digital screen or projection. The process starts out mostly as a digital file but once printed, put together and projected, the output is fully organic. This in my eyes is something special and the artform needs to be continued and shared.
